Dan is a Director and co-leads the Regulatory & Policy Innovation practice at Current Energy Group. He is an expert in utility ratemaking and business model reform, including performance-based regulation, alternative rate design, and DER integration. At CEG, he leads consulting teams advising regulators and state agencies on electric system reforms. He also provides clients with technical assistance and strategic advice to achieve their organizational objectives in pursuit of affordable, clean energy outcomes — such as implementing legislative- or commission-directed regulatory changes, designing regulatory sandbox (pilot project) programs, and providing thought leadership to pioneer new market designs.
Prior to CEG, Dan worked in various public, private, and non-profit roles. From 2022 to 2025, he served in the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office, helping to design and implement the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment (EIR) loan program. Before that, he was a Director of Regulatory Affairs at Uplight, a program manager for utility energy programs. He also worked for eight years at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), leading the regulatory team within the Electricity Program and consulting with state agencies, clean energy organizations, and philanthropies to advance solutions for utility modernization.
Dan received a Master’s in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.
